Mar 27 & Apr 3

Yes, you can always buy fabric. The question is how do we make our own sustainable fabric?

This class will focus on repurposing the clothing that already exists, and has nowhere to go but into landfills. Why should we buy new when fibers exist all around us that can be used creatively? This process not only eliminates stress for the planet, it provides a place to put our minds while we struggle with finding new ways of living.

We will explore how color dominates our life, not only in creating beautiful things and spaces, but as a way to tell our story. This is an experienced base class focused on identifying your color palette. During the first class I will have old clothes for you to repurpose. You will be required to visit resale shops or your closet, or attic and find clothing to repurpose for the second class. We will discuss more of what to look for in the first class. In the meantime, pay attention to the colors you love and the variety of fabrics available from synthetics to natural. We will be using a 72” FeltLOOM, a machine designed to fuse diverse fabrics together to create something new. You will leave with two beautiful piece of fabric with a story to tell.

Take one or more sessions. The beauty of this process is that once you learn the basics, it is self directed. Many of the design steps can be done at home so that you can focus using the unique FeltLOOM to create more fabric for home decor or art to wear in the next session or schdule use of the FeltLOOM by the hour.
