Shibori Silk Dyeing

Shibori scarves.jpg

Using the Shibori technique for dyeing silk, we will explore how color dominates our life, not only in creating beautiful things but as a way to tell our story. Shibori, an ancient Japanese technique, is based on manipulating fabric. You will learn Arashi Shiboir by wrapping cloth around a pole or rope. The cloth resists the dye and creates a pattern. You will also learn to choose colors that speak to you and then place at least three on the cloth. This creates movement and depth. The real pleasure attained using the Shibori technique is when you open each steamed package and discover the results!

This is an experienced base class focused on identifying your color palette and the words that resonate with you, especially regarding all that has occurred during the last few months. Not only will you leave with a beautiful scarf and shawl, you will be able to apply the concepts you learn to the stories you tell in other areas of your life.
